massiveRonin appears in another game cinematic!

Even with a speech impediment due to the loss of almost all of his front teeth (top and bottom), Ronin (aka Rushowr in some gaming communities) continues to offer his voice as well as his skills in audio production to independent video game cinematic creators as well as filmmakers, game creators, and is even attempting to get a small sound design and sound library project going. The intention is to offer sound design, ambient and atmospheric soundscapes, as well as bespoke custom sounds for use by content creators and game masters running real-life or virtual tabletop role playing games.

The latest project to utilize massive:Ronin is “Cut Off” by Martin_Wong, which is available on YouTube now. Cut Off is a 3-minute tactical CG short film that drops viewers into the heart of a special operations convoy ambush. When comms go dark and the squad is scattered, the remaining soldiers must hold their position under heavy fire—until backup arrives.

Ronin’s part is that of the pilot of “Super 61”, who can be heard early in the short radioing from the helipad about preflight checks and ETA for takeoff, and shortly thereafter when he’s radioing in that he’s been hit and is going down into the hostile territory he was flying a rescue mission above just moments earlier.

Below, you should see an embed with the short film ready to watch. If you experience issues, please report it to the site so that the issue can be resolved ASAP.

Marking Mortar Targets – Scene from Omnites’ Squad Community Trailer featuring the voice of massiveRonin.

It’s been a few years since I have worked on a project involving sound design. In fact it’s been 4 years since I did some sound design and voice acting for Omnites in his short film/trailer, “Squad Community Trailer“.

But I’ve just been asked to assist with another project. This time it’s a modification, or “mod” as they’re called in the gaming community, to a game.

Funnily enough, it’s the same game the Omnites’ project was promoting, the online tactical multiplayer “Squad” from Offworld Industries.
