massive:RONIN (proper noun) [pseudonym, nom de plume]
A tattoo artist, visual artist (many mediums, both digital and traditional), musician and sound designer, DJ (“techno” type, not radio or high school dance type), UAS pilot, gamer, and maker. A closer to “complete” listing is in the works and the site will be updated with it as soon as it’s ready.
Additionally, massiveRonin is the creative alter ego of S. “Ronin” McGowan, and finally, the name is an artist’s statement of self deprecation:
- Ronin is a slender man and of little notoriety. As such, he is not “massive” in either sense of the word.
- Originally, the word “ronin” (“rōnin”, in Japanese) was a derogatory term used to identify a disgraced samurai. To be ronin was to be someone who had dishonored themselves and their ancestors, failing at the highest level. Often, samurai would commit suicide by seppuku11 rather than face the dishonor of living as a rōnin
This site is supposed to be a portfolio of his work, a blog about the ongoing things he’s getting into, and eventually it will have an online ordering system for purchasing general items from his collection, as well as commissioning custom works.
